AUGUST AUCTION NOW LIVE! • View Auction Highlights
This month at Whisky Online Auctions sees a slightly smaller auction in terms of scale but something of a plethora of top end bottles on offer in place of size.
One of the overall themes of this auction is undoubtedly Bowmore. We have one of the most extensive selections of top end Bowmores we’ve ever offered. From a full set of the first Black Bowmore trilogy, including a beautiful condition 1st edition with a perfect filling level, to the rarely seen 1963 30 year old and the 1957 38 year old. These are joined by the incredibly scarce 25 year old for the dinner at Chateau Lagrange and the 1973 for the Morrison Bowmore 50th anniversary dinner in 2001.
Other top end bottlings are the Glenfarclas 1955 50 year old for the Bicentenary of John Grant’s birth, the 1948 66 year old Glen Grant for Wealth Solutions, a pristine condition Macallan Nicol’s Nectar and – not least – the 1924 Royal Brackla 60 year old which makes its first appearance at auction with us this sale.
Towards the middle of the auction you’ll find a wide selection of terrific bottlings for both the drinker and collector. Macallan 1967 18 year old, Bowmore 1971 34 year old, Macallan Private Eye, the Glenfarclas 150th anniversary presentation set and a first edition Ardbeg Provenance. We have some beautiful old Irish John Locke and Dunevilles bottlings as well as a very rare old bottling of Tullibardine from around 1970. The Glendronach 1968 re-opening bottling makes a welcome return along with the Wave and Big Butt Hanyus.
For those that missed the recent FOL 21 year old Laphroaigs we’ve got a clutch of them in this sale. Along with a nice selection of Port Ellens and old independent releases from Signatory and Duncan Taylor such as 1966 39 year old Bruichladdich and 1965 31 year old Auchentoshan. There is a Laphroaig Cairdeas 30 year old, a Balvenie Vintage Cask 1966, a Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 1 (along with a few other Tuns as well). You’ll find the much sought after super dark sherried Glenfiddich 1964 by J&J Hunter of Belfast, the extremely hard to find Hazelwood 90th Birthday edition and a welcome return of the 1968 Bunnahabhain Auld Acquaintance.
Outside the whisky we’ve got a smattering of great old vintage ports, another big selection of good drinking wines and few tasty cognacs, not least the Louis Royal Cognac and the Courvoisier Erte 7th edition. On top of all that there are many fantastic older bottlings, obscure independent releases and great value drinking bottles – you’ll just have to dive in and have a rummage.
As ever if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
Good luck and happy bidding
